What Are The Benefits Of Electrolysis For Hair Removal?

Unwanted hair on the face or body can be a time-consuming nuisance to remove, and home treatments only have a limited and temporary effect. Fortunately, there are now a range of professional salon treatments that can offer excellent and long-lasting results. One of the most effective of these methods is electrolysis. Here’s a closer look at what’s involved.

Electrolysis works by using a very fine metal probe to pass an electrical current through each individual hair right down to the follicle. This completely destroys the root, preventing any future regrowth. Because the hairs need to be targeted individually, a course of four to eight treatments is usually required for it to be fully effective.

Electrolysis is the only method of hair removal that is permitted to be described by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) as permanent. It is suitable for most skin and hair types, although the results can vary from person to person. Before a treatment is begun, your therapist will book you in for a consultation to make sure that it is safe for you.

Advanced electrolysis treatments may also be used to remove or reduce the appearance of spider veins and blood spots on the face and upper body. The procedure takes between 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the area that is being treated.

Unlike laser methods of hair removal, electrolysis can effectively remove blond, grey, white and ginger hair. It isn’t suitable for removing the very fine fuzz that can grow around the face and jaw area, and it is not used to remove hair from the bikini line for hygiene reasons. It is suitable for men and women who are over 18 years of age.
